Come Daily Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee

I haven't got to eat from my favourite Fried Hokkien Mee stall, Come Daily Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, since they changed their operating hours. Today, my craving is finally satisfied as I made a trip to Toa Payoh in the afternoon. This stall is very popular and it has won numerous awards for the cook's fine culinery skills. I ordered a plate of Hokkien Mee for S$8.00 and this portion is enough for 2-3 persons. The Hokkien Mee is awesome! The noodles and bee hoon has absorbed the goodness of the broth. The lard that was added into the Hokkien Mee makes it very fragrant and the small cubes of lard is so crispy that it just explodes in your mouth. This is definitely one thing worth you forgetting about being health conscious for a moment. You can also find ingredients like prawns, sotong, bean sprouts and eggs. Overall, the  This is one Hokkien Mee not to be missed. Every mouthful is a conviction that the cook has perfected the skills of frying his Hokkien Mee. Thumbs up!

Soon Lee Cooked Food/Fried Cockles Kway Teow

I was at Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Food Centre today for dinner. There are 2 Fried Kway Teow stalls that are next to each other, They are namely Soon Lee Cooked Food and Fried Cockles Kway Teow. I have always wanted to compare the 2 Fried Kway Teow to see which is better. Therefore I ordered one plate of Fried Kway Teow for S$3.00 from each of the stalls. Here's the review for the 2 stalls:

- Soon Lee Cooked Food

The Fried Kway Teow was very fragrant and the sweet sauce that was added into the kway teow was just nice and it is not too sweet. I find that the doneness of the kway teow is not too moist or too dry. You can find ingredients like fish cake, chinese sausages, bean sprouts, cockles and eggs.

- Fried Cockles Kway Teow

Its Fried Kway Teow tastes a little sweet due to the sweet sauce but it was acceptable for me. Although they have added some lard in the kway teow, it wasn't as fragrant as expected. The doneness of the kway teow is moist and has a wet texture. You can also find ingredients like fish cake, chinese sausages, bean sprouts, cockles and eggs.

Overall, I personally prefer Soon Lee Cooked Food as its Kway Teow taste slightly better than Fried Cockles Kway Teow due to the amount of the sweet sauce that was added. The former's doneness of the kway teow is just nice for me, not too moist nor dry. However, if you are the kind that prefer your fried kway teow to be sweeter or more moist, you may want to try Fried Cockles Kway Teow instead.

Wok Inn Fish and Chips

It has been a long time since I had a nice plate of Fish and Chips. I heard that this stall at Toa Payoh called Wok Inn Fish and Chips serves very good Fish and Chips. I decided to check out this stall and when I was there I noticed that most of the people at the coffeeshop were either waiting with the number tag on the table or eating Fish and Chips. I ordered the Fish and Chip for S$5.80 and I was given a number tag as well. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the dish was finally served. The Fish and Chips looked delicious and true enough, the outer crust was fried till golden yellow on the outside and the fish was nice and fresh on the inside. The batter was thin and nicely coated onto the fish, making the fish nice and juicy. For the price and quality of the food, it was certainly value for money. If you have craving for Fish and Chips, this is definitely one that can satisfy you at cheaper prices.

Ah Chuan Fried Oyster Omelette

Being the food lover that I am, I was so eager to check out this stall after a friend recommended it to me and I'm glad that I did. Upon arriving at the stall, it was hard to miss the display of accolades by the various gourmet critics like Makansutra, Greenbook, Bestfood etc. The stall owner had also proudly displayed pictures of celebrities who had patronised the stall. Excitedly, I ordered a large plate of Fried Oyster Omelette for S$5.00. The dish was served after about 10 minutes. The Fried Oyster Omelette has a thin texture that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The eggs and their homemade chilli sauce that is fried with the oysters and batter makes the dish taste perfect. The usual chilli sauce that is served separately with the Fried Oyster Omelette gives it a sourish taste when dipped in it thus, making the dish even more appetising. I must say that the oyster omelette tastes so good that this stall deserves nothing less than the awards it has received.

Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Minced Meat Noodle

I was at Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Hawker Centre for dinner. I was looking around for good food and decided to try the Minced Meat Noodle at this stall called Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Minced Meat Noodle. I ordered a bowl of Minced Meat Kway Teow Soup with an egg. The Kway Teow Soup consist of ingredients like minced meat, braised mushrooms, meat balls, beansprouts and an egg. The soup base is sweet with the goodness of the minced meat, braised mushrooms and egg to add more flavour. If you are looking for something soupy that day, you can check out this stall.

Hua Fong Kee Roasted Duck

I happened to stop by the area for dinner and noticed the awards and recommendations by several variety food channels on this Hua Fong Kee Roast Duck Stall. Being curious, I decided to check out this stall and ordered a plate of Roasted Duck Rice since they are famous for their Roast Duck. The Roast Duck is indeed well roasted and not oily, the layer between the meat and the skin does not have any fat. However, the meat and the skin is a little dry due to non oily nature of the roasting technique. Although they have added some stewed sauce over the rice but the rice is kind of dry and could be better if it was a little moist.
